Poteet leads team against Lady Techsters with career-high 11 points.

RUSTON, La. (2/3/2010) - It was one of those nights where nothing went right for the Broncos as Boise State dropped a 22-point decision at Louisiana Tech Wednesday night in Ruston, La. Boise State was a step slow all night and dug itself a deep hole by halftime as the visitors could not get their shots to fall from anywhere on the floor. The Broncos were down 17, 38-21, at the break then watched as the Lady Techsters extended the deficit to 20 points early in the second period.

The Broncos attempted to rally midway through the final half pulling to within 11 points, 50-39, with 12:51 remaining. But that was as close as they would get as the Lady Techsters ran away for the win, their first in four years over Boise State in the Thomas Assembly Center.

Boise State finished the night shooting 33.8 percent (23-68) from the floor, 13.6 percent (3-22) from the arc and a disappointing season-low 25 percent (4-16) from the free-throw line. La Tech had its moments shooting as well but finished the night at 40.6 percent (28-69) from the floor, 9.1 percent (1-11) from 3-point range and 69.2 percent (18-26) from the charity stripe.

The Lady Techsters out rebound the Broncos 55 to 43 including 21 to 17 in offensive boards resulting in a 25 to 10 advantage in second chance points. No one else hit double-digit scoring for the Boise State. Tasha Harris recorded nine points, three rebounds, one assist and one steal. Freshman Julia Marshall had a team-high eight rebounds, a career-high, to go with one point and three assists.

La Tech finished with five players in double-figure points, to had double-doubles. Adrienne Johnson gave Boise State trouble all night recording 23 points and 11 rebounds. Meanwhile, Shanavia Dowdell added 10 points and a team-high 17 boards.  Tarkeisha Wysinger, Jasmine Bendolph and Whitney Jones all scored 10 points apiece.

The loss snapped Boise State’s four-game win streak over the Lady Techsters, and three straight at Ruston, while extending the Broncos current road losing streak to seven games. Boise State is now 14-8 overall and 3-5 in WAC play, while the win moves La Tech to 14-6 and 5-3 in conference. Next up for the Broncos is a 4:00 p.m. (Mountain) encounter this Saturday at New Mexico State in Las Cruces, N.M.
