Boise State has picked Thursday’s home game against Louisiana Tech as the Broncos’ "Pack the House" night. Tickets for the 7:05 p.m. (Mountain) tip in Taco Bell Arena are $1.00 per person, in addition, the first 500 people in the door will be given "Bronco Rally Towels."
The Western Athletic Conference Play Up Tour for Women’s Basketball will be at Thursday’s encounter between the Lady Techsters and Broncos as well. Fans can join the WAC before the game to pick up free WAC winter hats. The Play Up Tour is an effort to raise awareness of the WAC brand as well as reinforce the association between the conference members and the WAC.
The WAC Women’s Basketball Play Up Tour is in correlation with the NCAA’s Pack the House Challenge. The NCAA’s Pack the House challenge is an effort to grow the sport of women’s basketball and to further develop national grassroots programs aimed at increasing attendance and awareness. Between January 1 and February 17 NCAA member schools will compete against schools in their own conference as well as all Division I schools for a chance to be the 2008 NCAA Women’s Basketball Pack the House Challenge Champion.
Thursday’s opponent the Louisiana Tech Lady Techsters are the defending co-regular season Western Athletic Conference champions with Boise State and have either won outright or shared the previous six league titles. Earlier this season Louisiana Tech picked their home game versus Boise State as their "Pack the House" event. Their attendance was 4,537 which more than doubled the attendance of any other league home game they have had this season and was the second largest of the year behind their home encounter with LSU.
The Broncos won the first encounter of the conference series this season on Jan. 12 in Ruston by the score of 85-68. The victory made Boise State the first league rival, all conferences, ever in Lady Techster history to win in consecutive years at the Thomas Assembly Center. The Broncos are expecting a fired up Lady Techsters squad as they return for the second meeting of the year when they come to town this week. The last team to defeat Boise State in Taco Bell arena was Louisiana Tech last Feb. 3 by the score of 79-63.
This season Boise State (15-6, 7-2 WAC) is in the thick of the race for the WAC title trailing Fresno State (12-9, 7-1 WAC) by one half game. A win over Louisiana Tech on Thursday and New Mexico State on Saturday, two of the top teams in the league, will place them in a solid position as they try to repeat as Western Athletic Conference champions.
