Isham scores season-high 23 points.

LAS CRUCES, N.M. - Kati Isham scored 17 of her season-high 23 points in the second half as Boise State rallied on the road to defeat New Mexico State 56-53 at Las Cruces. Boise State trailed for the first 35 minutes and by as many as 12 points in the first half. Down five with 5:37 to go, Isham scored 10 of the Broncos final 12 points to lead Boise State to its second road victory of the year. It was the Broncos final nonconference game as they improve to 9-6 on the year while NMSU falls to 3-12.

Isham finished the night hitting eight-of-17 field goal attempts including two from beyond the arc, as well as going five-for-five from the free-throw line. She added six rebounds, one assist, one block and one steal to her totals.

This first half was much like the first half in Boise when the two teams met on Dec. 11 with the Broncos struggling to get their shots to fall against the Aggies. Boise State missed its first five shots before getting a Lauren Lenhardt jumper to go at the 16:45 mark. They finished the period shooting 29.4 percent from the floor and 7.7 percent (1-13) from the 3-point arc, they did not attempt a free throw in the half.

New Mexico State led the entire first half and by as many as 12 points (20-8) with 8:15 on the clock. The Aggies shot 42.3 percent from the floor and 33.3 percent (2-6) from the arc while going four-for-four from the charity stripe.

The biggest factor in the half was field goal percentage. Boise State had the edge in points in the paint 12 to eight and bench points 12 to none. All other statistics were relatively close after 20 minutes of play.

The second period opened with a fast tempo as the Broncos pushed the ball up the court cutting the lead to one at 38-37 with 12:28 to go with five straight Isham points. Unfortunately, Boise State could not take the lead as the Aggies responded with a 6-0 run for a 44-37 advantage with 10:28 remaining.

Down by five (49-44) with five and a half minutes to play Boise State's Isham scored six consecutive points to give the Broncos their first lead of the game at 50-49. Nicole Brady then added a short jumper to extended the run to 8-0 and the lead to 52-49 at the 3:55 mark.

After NMSU hit one-of-two free throws to cut the Bronco lead to two (52-50), Isham nailed a mid-range jumper to give the Broncos a four-point advantage (54-50) with 2:15 to go.

The Aggies then scored three straight including a jumper with 2.8 seconds left to pull within one at 54-53. On the next Bronco possession Isham was fouled with 1.2 seconds left. The senior stepped to the line and knocked down both free throws to give Boise State a 56-53 lead. NMSU tried to get a shot off at the buzzer but the Bronco defense denied the attempt.

Lenhardt followed Isham in scoring for Boise State with eight points to go with six rebounds and two blocks. Nicole Brady added six points and five rebounds, while Kinzi Poteet had six points and six boards.

Boise State finished the night hitting 34.8 percent from the floor, 40.6 percent in the second half, 15.8 percent (3-19) from the 3-point arc and 77.8 percent (7-9) from the free-throw line. They out rebounded NMSU 39 to 38 and out scored the Aggies 28 to 20 in the paint, 18 to nine in points off turnovers and 31 to nine in bench points.

NMSU shot 39.6 percent (19-48) from the floor, 20 percent (2-10) from the arc and 68.4 percent from the free-throw line. Camila Rosen led the Aggies with 13 points and six rebounds, followed by Tabytha Wampler with 11 points and eight boards.

Boise State opens Mountain West play this Wednesday when the University of New Mexico comes too town.
