Riley Lupfer Named MW Player Of The Week
Jan. 2, 2018

BOISE, Idaho - Boise State guard Riley Lupfer was named Mountain West Player of the Week Tuesday, after leading Boise State to a 2-0 start to conference play for the second-straight season.

Lupfer highlighted her week with a career day Saturday against UNLV, setting personal milestones with 28 points, nine field goals, and seven 3-pointers made in Boise State's 69-60 victory. She scored 15 points in the first half, helping Boise State to a 14-point advantage over UNLV by halftime, and added 13 more as the Broncos cruised in the second half. Lupfer's 7-for-14 effort from behind the arc tied for third-most in Boise State single-game history, just one behind the eight treys from Brooke Pahukoa (March 4, 2016 against San Jose State) and Nadia Begay (March 17, 2017 against George Washington).

Lupfer's performance against the Lady Rebels followed a clutch fourth-quarter effort two days earlier at Colorado State. There, Lupfer hit a pair of key 3-pointers in the fourth quarter, highlighting her 11-point effort, as the Broncos held back the Rams to complete a 12-point comeback and earn a 62-58 victory. The win at Moby Arena was the Broncos' second in as many seasons, and Boise State remains the only Mountain West team to defeat Colorado State at Moby Arena since the start of the 2013-14 campaign.

Overall, Lupfer averaged 19.5 points and shot 50.0 percent from 3-point range (10-for-20) over the two victories.

Boise State (8-5, 2-0 MW) travels to Albuquerque for a big early-season clash Wednesday at New Mexico (14-1, 2-0 MW) between the only two unbeaten teams in the Mountain West. Tip time is set for 7 p.m. Following the contest, the Broncos will return to Taco Bell Arena to host Wyoming Saturday at 2 p.m.
