Boise State Defeats Carroll College 76-64
Lenhardt scores season-high 27 points.

BOISE, Idaho - Lauren Lenhardt and Amber Vandiver combined for 40 points and 15 rebounds to lead Boise State to a 76-64 victory over the NAIA's No. 24 ranked Carroll College Saints in a nonconference women's basketball game in Taco Bell Arena at Boise, Idaho. Lenhardt led Boise State with 27 points and eight rebounds, while Vandiver added 13 points and seven boards as the starting duo in the post help the Broncos hold off a pesky Carroll College team Sunday afternoon. Boise State improved to 5-4 on the year with the win.

Lenhardt battled early foul trouble in the opening 20 minutes to finish the game shooting an impressive 68.6 percent from the floor going 11-for-16. The senior forward also went two-for-three from beyond the arc and three-of-four from the free-throw line in 25 minutes of action. Lenhardt scored 16 of her season-high 27 points in the second half as the Broncos pull away for the win.

Diana Lee added a solid performance as well recording her second career double-double in one of the more uncommon ways on 11 points and 10 assists, both times have been with the rare points and assists combination. Lee became only the third Bronco ever to record double-figure assists two or more times in a career. The junior has now led the team in assists during seven of nine games this year.

Vandiver was second in scoring with 13 points, five-of-six field goals from the floor, to go with seven rebounds in the contest. Brandi Henton chipped in with eight points and three boards. On the day, 10 of the 11 Broncos who played scored against the Saints.

Boise State shot 51.8 percent from the floor, 33.3 percent from behind the arc and 70 percent from the free-throw line. Meanwhile, Carroll countered at 50 percent in all three categories.

Three Saints reach double figure points led by Megan Patterson with 17, Jordan Bagley followed with 12, while Joey O'Neil had 11 and team-high six rebounds.

Boise State opened the game on fire racing out to a 15-0 lead by the 14:26 mark. However, Carroll collected itself and rallied back. The Saints eventually used a 12-2 run topped off by a Patterson three-point play to take a 33-32 lead with 3:50 left in the half.

The visitors extended their lead to a game-high four points on their next possession when Katie Estey hit a 3-pointer to make it 36-32. The Broncos regrouped and rolled off a 7-0 run to finished the half up 39-36 with Lee hitting a buzzer better for the three point advantage.

Boise State never trailed again in the contest but Carroll kept it close until midway through the second period. Following a pair of Miquelle Askew free throws, she has now made 16 in a row, Lenhardt scored seven consecutive Bronco points to cap a 9-2 run that broke a seven-point game open as Boise State claimed a 14-point advantage, 66-52, with 8:35 to go.

The Broncos eventually stretched the run out to 19-7 as they took a game-high 19-point lead with 3:10 left in the contests. Lenhardt recorded 10 of the 19 points to lead Boise State. Carroll mounted a rally but ran out of time as Boise State came away with the 12-point 76-64 victory.  

Next up for Boise State is the University of Portland on Sunday, Dec. 16 at 2 p.m. in Taco Bell Arena.
