BOISE, Idaho - Lexie Der recorded her fourth career double-double to lead Boise State to a 76-68 victory over a pesky Lewis-Clark State Warriors squad Monday night in a women’s basketball game at Taco Bell Arena. Every time the Broncos made a run to put the game away, leading by as many as 15 points in the second half, LCSC would rally to keep the contest close.

Der scored a career-high 22 points and tied her high for rebounds with 14. Redshirt-sophomore Keiahnna Engel also tallied a double-double, the first in her career, on 11 points and 12 boards. Brandi Henton was right behind Der in scoring with 19 points on 8-of-14 shooting from the floor, while Miquelle Askew plagued by early foul trouble added 11, 10 in the second period. The victory moves Boise State to 1-1 on the year with a road game at New Mexico State next on the schedule for this Thursday night.

The Broncos opened the game with a vengeance racing out to a 15-1 lead in just over four minutes of action. Boise State would never trail in the contest but the Warriors did not make it easy for the homestanding Broncos. Every time it looked like Boise State was going to put the game away with a run LCSC would stage a rally to keep it tight to the end.

The blue and orange took a six point 40-34 lead into halftime powered by 15 Henton points. The second half saw LCSC come out fired up and pull to within one at 44-43 with 16 minutes to play. That sparked the Broncos who responded with a 21-7 run from the 15:01 mark to 6:07 that turned a one point advantage into a game-high 15-point lead at 65-50. Askew led the charge with eight of the points during the run.

Up 15 it looked like the game was going to turn into a run away for Boise State, however, the Warriors had other ideas and came battling back. LCSC eventually came back to pull within five points at 71-66 with two minutes left before the Broncos regrouped to hold the Warriors off out scoring the visitors 5-2 down the stretch.

Boise State finished the night shooting 40.9 percent from the floor, 35.3 percent (6-17) from the 3-point arc and 69.6 percent (16-23) from the free-throw line. Foul trouble struck early in the contest as Brooke Pahukoa and Askew were both on the bench with two fouls each with 15 minutes to go in the first period, Yaiza Rodriguez joined them not long after that.

LCSC shot 44.4 percent from the floor, 36.8 percent (7-19) from long range and 65 percent (13-20) from the foul line. The Warriors were led by three players in double figure scoring starting with Caelyn Orlandi with 17 points followed by Tanis Fuller with 14 and Shelby Barnes with 10.
