The Broncos were competitive in the opening bouts, which started with George Ivanov (157) and Michael Cuthbertson (165). Ivanov battled the Cowboys' Albert White deep into the third round, but could not get a takedown late and fell 5-3. Cuthbertson went up against No. 19 Dallas Bailey, losing by a 2-0 decision after a grueling seven minutes.
With Boise State down 6-0, freshman Scott Bacon took to the mat against Zach White. After being taken down early in the first round, Bacon responded with an escape and a takedown of his own to enter the second with a 3-2 advantage. The Republic, Wash., native never looked back as he rolled to a 7-3 win, moving to 2-2 on dual meets this season and putting the Broncos within three points.
Bacon's win would be the lone win for Boise State, as Oklahoma State rallied after Bronco medical forfeit at 184, followed by falls at the 197 and 285 divisions.
With four matches left, the Broncos trailed 24-3 and had to face four Oklahoma State opponents with top-13 rankings or better, including 133-pound Jordan Oliver who entered the weekend ranked first in his class.
After all 10 matches, Oklahoma State left with a 43-3 victory over the Broncos.
Boise State (0-4, 0-2 Pac-12) will look for its first duel match win of the season when it heads to Stanford Jan. 5. The event will be the first of four-consecutive road matches, as the Broncos face Cal State Bakersfield (Jan.6), Cal Poly (Jan. 8) and Utah Valley (Jan.12) in a one-week span.
