BOISE, Idaho The Boise State University wrestling team opens its 2007-08 home season this Saturday (Dec. 8) when its hosts the University of Wyoming.  The dual match will take place at Capital High School and start at 6:00 p.m. (MT).

                After competing in three tournaments, this will be the first dual match of the season for the Broncos.  Boise State competed in two non-scoring tournament (Cowboy Open and Best of the West Classic) before placing 11th out of 50 teams at last Saturday (Dec. 1) Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invitational.

                Along with four tournaments, the Cowboys have one dual match under their belts this year losing to the University of Nebraska, 47-0.

                Leading the Broncos during the early part of the season has been Tyler Sherfey and Adam Hall.  Both already have 10 victories this season and are listed in the top 20 of this week’s USA Today/Intermat rankings. 

                A junior from Kennewick, Wash., Sherfey is ranked 11th in the 157-pound weight class.  He has placed at all three tournaments this year including a first place finish at the Best of the West, and a fifth place finish at the Las Vegas Invitational.  His overall record is 10-4.

                Hall, a redshirt freshman from Bonners Ferry, Idaho, has an overall record of 10-3 and is ranked 18th in the 149-pound weight division.  Like Sherfey he has placed in all three tournaments this year with a first place finish at the Best of the West while finishing seventh in Las Vegas.

                The lineup for the Broncos against Wyoming will be Alan Bartelli (4-4 record) at 125 pounds; Cory Fish (8-4) at 133; Levi Jones (5-5) at 141; Hall at 149, Sherfey at 157; Kurt Swartz (9-4) at 165; Tyler Roshau (2-4) at 174; Matt Casperson (6-3) at 184; Ryan Allen (2-5) at 197; and Nick Smith (5-3) at heavyweight.

                Boise State will take a break from competition the next couple of weeks before traveling to Greensboro, North Carolina and the annual Southern Scuffle on Dec. 29 and 30 (Saturday and Sunday).
