Boise State Prepped for No. 15 Oregon State
SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. - The Boise State wrestling team will compete in its first Pac-12 dual of 2012-13 season this weekend when it takes on No. 15 Oregon State at Central Valley High School in Spokane Wash., Saturday. The meet is slated for a 5 p.m. (PT) start.

Return to Washington: Boise State dons seven members of its 2012-13 squad from the state of Washington. The projected lineup for Saturday's meet is highlighted by University High School (Spokane, Wash.) graduate Brian Owen.

In the Rankings: The Broncos feature three wrestlers ranked in the Amateur Wrestling News Division I College Rankings. Those four are No. 16 Brian Owen (133), No. 2 Jason Chamberlain (149) and No. 11 Jake Swartz (184).

Scouting the Beavers: Oregon State is 0-1 after losing a close match against Michigan last week. The Beavers picked up five wins in the 21-18 defeat in Corvallis. The Pac-12 foe has six wrestlers ranked in American Wrestling News' top 25. The Broncos will face top-25 competition with No. 6 Michael Mangrum (141), No. 4 Scott Sakaguchi (149), No. 9 R.J. Pena (157), No. 19 Ty Vinson (184), No. 11 Taylor Meeks (197) and No. 6 Chad Hanke (285).

Stiff Competition: The dual against Oregon State will be the fourth-consecutive match against teams currently ranked in the USA Today/NWCA/AWN Top 25. In their first three duals of the season the Broncos have faced No. 1 Minnesota, No. 19 Wyoming and No. 24 North Dakota State.

Home Away From Home: The match against Oregon State is officially Boise State's first home match of the 2012-13 season. As far as travel is concerned, the advantage is narrowly in Boise State's favor. The trip from Boise to Spokane Valley spans 378 miles while the Corvallis to Spokane Valley covers 444 miles.

Whole Again: The Broncos were put in deficits during their first two matches after giving up six points by forfeiting a weight class. The Blue and Orange started its first full lineup against Minnesota last week.

About the Broncos: The Boise State roster is up to 33 student-athletes this season, with 12 newcomers on the team. Despite over a third of the lineup being new, The Broncos return all 10 starters from last season after losing only two graduating seniors. Among those returners are 2012 NCAA Tournament participants Brian Owen (133), George Ivanov (157), Jake Swartz (184) and Brent Chriswell (197). The broncos will also have NCAA All-American Jason Chamberlain (149) returning to action after redshirting last season.

Cowboy Up: Jake Swartz is currently 6-1 this season after winning four matches at the Cowboy Open to take the 184-pound title.

Chamberlain's Travels: Redshirt senior Jason Chamberlain has had a busy summer. His journey to the World University Games in Finland started in Akron, Ohio, where he was named the Most Outstanding Wrestler at the World University Championships. The performance set him up for a finals appearance at the World University Team Trials, where he defeated defending NCAA Champion Frank Molinaro to earn a spot on the American roster. In Finland, Chamberlaind suffered a first round defeat to Russian Roland Ondar.
