CENTRAL POINT, Ore. Luke Smith and Andy Patrick won their respective weight classes, and six other Boise State University wrestlers placed in the top four at Best of the West Tournament hosted by Southern Oregon University on Saturday (Nov. 18).
Smith won the 165 pound weight with a 13-2 major decision over Jake McCoy of the University of Oregon. Patrick handed Jamie Rakevich of Oregon State a 4-1 defeat in winning the heavyweight class.
The Broncos posted two runner-up finishes with Tyler Sherfey placing second at 157 pounds and Mike Casperson doing the same in the 184-pound weight class.
Other Broncos placing included third place finishes by Levi Jones at 133 pounds, Nate Lee at 174 pounds and Matt Casperson at 197 pounds. Jeff Newby finished fourth in the 141-pound weight class.
Boise State has a two week break before competing in the Las Vegas Invitational on Dec. 1 and 2 (Friday and Saturday).
