Sherfey, Lee Advance To Quarterfinals of NCAA Wrestling Championships

St. Louis Boise State University wrestlers Nate Lee and Tyler Sherfey advanced to the quarterfinals of the championship bracket at the NCAA Wrestling Championships in St. Louis.


Nate Lee knocked off the Brandon Moss of Oklahoma State at 174 pounds with a 2-1 decision. He will face the No. 1 seed Keith Gavin of Pitt in the quarterfinals.


Tyler Sherfey advanced on at 157-pounds as he defeated the No. 6 seed in the bracket, Matt Kocher, with a 3-3 riding time victory. He will face Daniel Vallimont of Pittsburgh in the quarterfinals.


Adam Hall collected a victory in the wrestleback of the 149 pound weight class as he defeated Matt Cathell of Delaware State 8-5.


Matt Casperson recorded a pinfall in 3:24 over Jared Villers of West Virginia to advance.


Cory Fish, Levi Jones and Kirk Smith lost during session two and will be in the wrestlebacks.


Kurt Swartz and Nick Smith both lost in the wrestlback ending their NCAA championship run.


Session three of the NCAA Wrestling Championships will begin Friday, Mar. 21, at 10:00 a.m.
