CORVALLIS & PORTLAND, Oregon It was clean sweep of the Oregon schools on Sunday (Feb. 15) for the Boise State University wrestling team as the 10th ranked Broncos handed Oregon State University a 25-9 loss in the afternoon, before driving north on Interstate 5 to shut out Portland State University, 42-0, in the evening.

The Broncos end their regular season undefeated in the Pac-10 Conference at 8-0, while improving their overall record to 17-3.

Boise State’s nationally ranked wrestlers Adam Hall, Tyler Sherfey, Nate Lee, Kirk Smith and Brent Chriswell led the way for the Broncos with all five picking up two victories each on Sunday.

Ranked No. 6 at 157 pounds, Hall recorded a pin at the 2:47 mark of his Oregon State match against Jon Brascetta before posting a major decision over Steven Dailey of Portland State.

Sherfey, No. 18 at 165 pounds, downed Keegan Davis of Oregon State, 10-6, and Bryan Cantrell of Portland State, 7-4.

Lee, the defending Pac-10 Champion at 174 pounds and ranked No. 12, posted a 4-3 overtime win over Kyle Bressler of Oregon State, who was ranked 13th, before recording a 4-1 win over Portland State’s Ryan Sonderegger.

Smith won his 31st and 32nd matches of the season, against just one loss, on Sunday. The 184-pound sophomore won by major decision over Brice Arrand of Oregon State 11-2 and 8-3 over Brady Garner of Portland State.

Chriswell, ranked fifth at 197 pounds, opened his Sunday with a 4-1 win over Chad Hanke of Oregon State, before ending the day with a pin of Portland State’s Keena Washington at the 1:57 mark of the match.

Cory Fish and Brian Owen also came away double winners for the Broncos on Sunday.

The defending league champion at 133 pounds, Fish had little trouble in his 141-pound weight matches posting a 6-1 win over Garrett Drucker of Oregon State, before recording a pin over Westley Moniz of Portland State at the 6:51 mark.

Against Oregon State, Owen wrestled at 125 pounds downing Jake Gonzales, 3-1, while moving up a weight class to 133 in his 10-2 major decision win over Thomas Cottrell of Portland State.

The Broncos will next defend their Pac-10 title at the league tournament March 1 and 2 (Sunday and Monday) on the campus of Cal State Fullerton.
