BOISE, Idaho Two of the top NAIA wrestling programs in the country will visit Bronco Gym Friday (Feb. 8) as Boise State University hosts Montana State University-Northern and the University of Great Falls (Mont.). 

            The Broncos will face MSU-Northern at 5:00 p.m., followed by Great Falls at 7:00 p.m.  This is a change in the original schedule announced by Boise State.  The previous schedule had the Broncos wrestling Great Falls first, and then MSU-Northern.

            MSU-Northern is ranked No. 6 in this week’s NAIA national poll, while Great Falls is No. 3.  The two schools competed in a dual match on Feb. 6 (Wednesday), with Great Falls posting a 22-12 victory

            Boise State’s wrestling team is unranked in this week’s USA Today/InterMat/NWCA national poll, but continues to receive votes. 

            The Broncos again have four individuals listed in this week’s national rankings led by Kirk Smith in the 184-pound weight class at No. 8.  A true freshman from Boise, Smith has the top record on the Bronco team at 20-1 and moves up one spot in this week’s rankings from No. 9. 

            Boise State’s other nationally ranked wrestlers include Adam Hall at No. 11 in the 149-pound weight class, Tyler Sherfey in 12th place at 157-pounds, and Kurt Swartz in the No. 16 slot at 165 pounds. 

Hall, who has not competed in over a month due to an injury, has a record of 18-5.  He is not expected to compete again until the Pac-10 Conference Championships, March 2 and 3 (Sunday and Monday).  Sherfey is 22-6 in individual matches this season, while Swartz is 23-6.

            In this week’s Pac-10 rankings, Smith and Sherfey are listed No. 1 in their weight classes along with Nate Lee at 174 pounds.  Swartz and Hall are second at their weights, as is Cory Fish at 133 pounds and heavyweight Nick SmithMatt Casperson is No. 3 at 197 pounds.

             Boise State will host its final dual of the 2007-08 season on Sunday (Feb. 10) in the biggest match ever held on the Bronco campus when No. 1 ranked University of Iowa comes to Boise.  The match will be held in Taco Bell Arena and starts at Noon (MT). 

            Tickets for the Iowa match are on sale at the athletic ticket office, located at the south end of Bronco Stadium, and at all Select-A-Seat outlets.  Individual tickets for the Iowa match are $10.00 for adults and $5 for juniors.
