BOISE, Idaho Boise State University competes in its final Pac-10 Conference wrestling dual of the 2007-08 season Friday (Feb. 1) night when the Broncos host Portland State University.  The match starts at 7:00 p.m. in Bronco Gym.

            The Broncos bring a six-match winning streak into the dual with its last and only loss of the season on Jan. 11 at Cal State Fullerton, 19-13.  Boise State’s overall record is 7-1 and 6-1 in league duals.  Portland State is 1-8 and 0-6 in Pac-10 matches this season.

            Boise State will also be going for a clean sweep over the three NCAA Division I wrestling schools on Friday night.  Last weekend the Broncos handed the University of Oregon a 34-3 loss (Jan. 25) and Oregon State University a 24-13 defeat (Jan. 27).

            Head coach Greg Randall has altered his lineup tonight with only two of his four nationally ranked wrestlers scheduled to compete. 

            Kirk Smith, No. 9 at 184 pounds, is 19-1 this season with his only loss to eighth ranked Phil Keddy of the University of Iowa.  Tyler Sherfey is 21-6 in the 157-pound weight class and is ranked 12th in this week’s Intermat/NWCA/NWMA rankings.

            Boise State’s other two nationally ranked wrestlers are expected to miss tonight’s match.  Adam Hall, No. 11 at 149 pounds with an 18-5 record, is recovering from an injury, and Kurt Swartz is just taking a break from this week’s competition.  Swartz is No. 16 in the 165-pound weight class with a 22-6 record.

            The Broncos will be back in action again next Friday (Feb. 8) when they host a double dual in Bronco Gym.  Boise State will face the University of Great Falls (Mont.) at 5:00 p.m., and Montana State University-Northern at 7:00 p.m.
