LARAIME, Wyoming Opening the match with six straight individual victories, the Boise State University wrestling team posted a 26-12 win over the University of Wyoming on Friday (Jan. 19) night.

            Nationally ranked 16th in the 157-pound class, Tyler Sherfey got things started in a big way for the Broncos as the sophomore posted a 16-1 technical fall victory over Dane Fuhram for a quick 5-0 team lead.

            Sherfey’s win was followed with victories by decision by Johnny Nunez at 165 pounds, and Nate Lee at 174 pounds, before Luke Smith pinned Preston Pavich at the 4:31 mark of the 184-pound match. 

            Ryan Allen at 197 pounds, and heavyweight Andy Patrick completed the string of six straight Bronco wins with decisions and a 23-0 Boise State lead.

            Boise State’s final individual win came in the 133-pound weight class when Levi Jones recorded a 2-0 decision over Cory VomBaur.

            The Broncos return to the Boise State campus for its next dual match on Jan. 26 (Friday) against Cal State Fullerton.  The start of the match, which will be held at Bronco Gym, has been moved up to 5:00 p.m. so it will not conflict with another event on campus as Taco Bell Arena.
