After scoring points at 133 pounds with a forfeit, the Broncos took their only lead of the dual 9-6 as Levi Jones scored a 10-8 decision against Ryan Adams in the 141-pound match. After a loss at 149 pounds, Boise State then scored again at 165 pounds with Michael Cuthbertson's 6-4 decision over Tyler Johnson.
Kirk Smith scored the Broncos' next win at 184 pounds as he earned a 19-6 major decision over Kenny Moenkedick. The Bison sealed the win with a pin at 197 pounds. Sam Zylstra narrowed the final scored in the heavyweight match, earning a win by fall over Joe Arthur at the 2:01 mark.
With the loss, Boise State drops their record to 8-2 on the season (1-0 Pac-10 Conference). The Broncos are off until next week when they travel to Fullerton, Calif. next Friday (Jan. 22) to face Cal-State Fullerton.
