THIS WEEK'S BREAKDOWN: The Boise State wrestling team, ranked No. 21 in the most recent InterMat College Rankings, will host its first dual in more than two months Friday (Jan. 17), squaring off against No. 22 North Dakota State at 7 p.m., in Taco Bell Arena.

The dual will be part of the Broncos' 12th Annual Beauty and the Beast, an event held simultaneously with the Boise State gymnastics team. The gymnasts will compete in a triangular against Denver and BYU.

BEAUTY AND THE BEAST: Boise State was the first school in the country to host such an event, though it has been replicated nationwide.

This is the 12th year the Broncos have held Beauty and the Beast, and Friday will mark the 13th edition of the event. Boise State held two Beauty and the Beast competitions during 2012-13.

The wrestlers boast a record of 12-1 all-time at Beauty and the Beast, and the gymnasts are 11-1.

TICKET INFORMATION: Tickets for Beauty and the Beast can be PURCHASED HERE in advance, or at the door. Doors are slated to open at 6 p.m.

NORTH DAKOTA STATE: North Dakota State, a member of the Western Wrestling Conference, enters its dual with Boise State ranked 22nd-nationally, one spot behind the Broncos.

The Bison are 4-3 on the season, and boast a pair of ranked wrestlers. Redshirt senior Steven Monk is the highest-ranked wrestler in North Dakota State history, checking in at No. 3 at 165 pounds. Redshirt sophomore Hayden Zillmer ranks 13th-nationally at 174 pounds.

IN THE RANKINGS: Boise State currently ranks 21st in both the InterMat College Rankings (Jan. 14) and WIN's Tournament Power Index (Jan. 13). The Broncos dropped out of the USA Today/NWCA/AWN Division I Coaches Poll this week.

Individually, Boise State boasts a pair of ranked wrestlers: redshirt senior Jake Swartz is ranked sixth-nationally at 184 pounds by AWN, and seventh-nationally by both InterMat and WIN; senior J.T. Felix (285) is ranked sixth-nationally by both InterMat and WIN, and eighth-nationally by AWN.
