BOISE, Idaho Carrying with them the 25th ranking in this week’s USA Today/InterMat/NWCA poll, the Boise State University wrestling team begins a three-match swing through California beginning Friday (Jan. 11) at Cal State Fullerton.

            The Broncos are 1-0 in dual matches this season and are coming off an eighth place finish at the Southern Scuffle in Greensboro, N.C., on Dec. 29 and 30.  The team’s ranking marks the second straight week Boise State has been listed in the top 25 of the national poll.

            Following the Cal State Fullerton match, the Broncos will travel to Cal State Bakersfield on Saturday (Jan. 12) and Cal Poly on Sunday (Jan. 13).

            Leading the Broncos this weekend will be Adam Hall and Tyler Sherfey, both ranked nationally in their respective weight classes. 

            Hall is 12th in the 149-pound weight class and has one of the key matches in the Friday match when he faces 11th ranked Morgan Atkinson.  Hall has an overall record of 16-4 this season, while Atkinson is 22-5.

            Sherfey is ranked 11th at 157 pounds and will also face a ranked wrestler when the Broncos take on Cal Poly.  Sherfey is 16-5 this season and is expected to wrestler Chase Pami who is ranked ninth and has a 17-3 record.

            The Cal State Fullerton and Cal State Bakersfield matches are set to start at 7:00 p.m. (PT), while the Sunday match at Cal Poly is set for 2:00 p.m. (PT).
