LAS VEGAS - Boise State freshman Geordan Martinez finished in fifth place at 141 pounds at the Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invitational Saturday, leading the Broncos at the annual tournament. Redshirt senior Steven Hernandez also placed for Boise State, finishing sixth.

Martinez and Hernandez were two of three Broncos still wrestling on the tournament's second day. Freshman Michael Cook wrestled his way to the consolation quarterfinals, but dropped his first match of the day.

Martinez earned a pair of decisions before falling in the consolation semifinals. He defeated North Carolina State's Sam Speno (10-6), then North Dakota State's Mitchell Bengston (4-3). After dropping a 10-8 decision to Rutgers' Anthony Ashnault, he won the tournament's fifth-place match 8-4 over Mike Morales of West Virginia.

Hernandez opened the day with a pair of pins, setting down Michigan's Brian Murphy in 2:30, and dispatching Arizona State's Joel Smith in 2:08, but an injury forced him to forfeit his final two matches, and he finished sixth.

Cook fell to Iowa State's Earl Hall, 13-3.

Boise State finished in 18th place as a team with 39.5 points.
