BOISE, Idaho - In a tightly-contested dual that featured three matches that went to overtime, the Boise State wrestling team fell 17-15 to Wyoming in the team's home opener, in front of 986 fans Friday at Bronco Gym.

With the Broncos trailing 15-12, Boise State junior Holden Packard upset the Cowboys' previously-unbeaten No. 12 Andy McCulley in overtime at 157 pounds to tie the match at 15. After trading escape points during regulation, Packard registered a takedown just 16 seconds into the overtime period, earning his first-career victory over a ranked opponent.

The Cowboys were penalized a team point for unsportsmanlike conduct after Packard's victory, and the duel would be decided in the evening's final match.

Redshirt sophomore Taylor West, wrestling for the first time this season at 165 pounds, dropped an 8-3 decision to junior Dakota Friesth, and the Cowboys escaped Bronco Gym with a 17-15 dual victory.

In the only match of the evening featuring ranked opponents, the Broncos' redshirt senior Jake Swartz, ranked fifth-nationally, earned a 5-1 decision over No. 16 Benjamin Stroh of Wyoming.

Boise State senior J.T. Felix, also ranked fifth-nationally, pinned Wyoming's Leland Pfeifer in the opening period, just 1:19 into the match.
