STANFORD, Calif. -- The Boise State wrestling team let an early lead slip away Thursday evening, falling 22-15 to Stanford at Burnham Pavilion.

The Broncos dropped to 3-6 on the season and 1-1 in the Pac-12, while the Cardinal, ranked tied for 18th nationally, improved to 11-3 overall and 3-2 in the league.

Boise State opened with victories in two of the first three bouts, getting a pin from redshirt senior Chris Castillo at 157 pounds in the first match of the evening. He dropped the Cardinal's Nainoa Calvo in 3-minutes, 25-seconds.

Stanford's Jim Wilson, ranked 18th nationally, notched a major decision at 165, but redshirt junior Austin Dewey extended the Broncos' advantage with a 10-4 decision over Keaton Subjeck at 174.

The Cardinal won each of the next four matches to take a 19-9 lead before Carson Kuhn, wrestling for the first time this season -- and for the first time in his career at 133 -- shut out Stanford's Mason Pengilly, 2-0.

Trailing 19-12, Boise State would need to win each of the final two matches, picking up bonus points in the process, but second-ranked Joey McKenna clinched the dual for Stanford in the penultimate match, earning a 4-0 decision over Jake Velarde at 141.

Sophomore Geordan Martinez provided the final margin, as the nation's 15th-ranked 149-pounder earned another shutout for the Broncos, defeating Tommy Pawelski 2-0.

Each of the five ranked individuals picked up victories Friday evening, and four of the evening's matches were won via shutout. Match-by-match results can be found below.

The dual was the first of three in a four-day stretch for Boise State, which is set to square off against CSU Bakersfield, ranked tied for 24th nationally, Friday evening at the Icardo Center in Bakersfield, Calif. The Broncos and Roadrunners will hit the mat at 8 p.m. MT, and live results will be available at TrackWrestling.
