Broncos Fall on Senior Day
Feb. 7, 2016

BOISE, Idaho -- The Boise State wrestling team dropped its final home dual of the season Sunday, falling to South Dakota State 32-9 at Bronco Gym.

The Jackrabbits (12-5, 4-1 Big 12) picked up seven-straight wins to start the match, earning their 11th-straight victory, the team's longest winning streak as a Division I wrestling program.

Sophomore Geordan Martinez earned the Broncos' only victory of the afternoon, defeating SDSU's Alex Kocer, 7-5. Martinez, ranked 17th nationally, has won each of his last 11 matches dating back to Dec. 5, 2015, when he dropped a 7-4 decision to then-15th-ranked Alec Pantaleo of Michigan at the Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invitational.

The Broncos (3-5, 1-0 Pac-12) picked up a forfeit in the ensuing match, as redshirt senior Chris Castillo earned six points on Senior Day without hitting the mat.

Castillo, Travis Himmelman and Taylor West were each honors prior to the match as part of the team's Senior Day festivities.

Following four-straight home duals, Boise State will be on the road the rest of the season, starting with a three-stop Pac-12 swing through California next week. The Broncos will be at Stanford Thursday (Feb. 11; 7:30 p.m. MT), at CSU Bakersfield Friday (Feb. 12; 8 p.m. MT) and at Cal Poly Sunday (Feb. 14; 2 p.m. MT).
