BOISE, Idaho -- Sophomore Geordan Martinez gave the Broncos a chance in the penultimate match of the evening, but the Boise State wrestling team fell 22-15 to Northern Colorado Friday at Taco Bell Arena in the team's inaugural Pink Out dual.

Trailing 19-9 through eight of the 10 matches, the Broncos (3-4), wearing pink singlets for the first time in school history in honor of breast cancer awareness, were going to need a pair of bonus-point victories in the final two to earn the dual win. Martinez, the nation's 19th-ranked 149-pound wrestler, notched his third pin of the season, picking up the fall over Timmy Box in 4-minutes, 25-seconds.

The win set redshirt senior Chris Castillo up to win the dual at 157 in the final match for the second time in the last three outings, but he was unable to recreate his heroics from the Broncos' 19-18 win over North Dakota State, Jan. 15.

Against the Bison, Castillo picked up a 16-5 major decision to clinch the victory. Needing at least a major decision against the Bears (3-4), he ultimately fell 4-3.

Redshirt junior Austin Dewey put the Broncos on the board first at 174 pounds, winning his third-consecutive match and remaining undefeated in his hometown. The Centennial High School product tied the dual at three-all with a 10-3 decision over Tanner Davis.

In the ensuing match, redshirt sophomore Zach Coffman put the Broncos in front with a 10-4 decision over Horacio Vialpando, the first dual victory of his career.

The Bears responded, winning four of the next five matches, including a pin at 197 and a major decision at 133. The Broncos' lone win during the stretch came at 125, where redshirt junior Rami Haddadin earned an 8-2 decision.

For Martinez, the win was his 10th-straight and his first pin since Nov. 15 in the opening round of the Cyclone Open. He has not lost a match since falling 7-4 to then-15th-ranked Alec Pantaleo of Michigan at the Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invitational.

Boise State will host South Dakota State next Sunday (Feb. 7) in the final home dual of the season, set for noon in Bronco Gym.
