BOISE, Idaho – The Boise State wrestling team picked up wins at 149 and 174 pounds, but ultimately fell to Wyoming 33-6 at Bronco Gym, Sunday.

Wyoming (2-5, 1-3 Big 12) opened with bonus-point victories – a major decision at 133 and a fall at 141 – to jump out to a 10-0 lead. Sophomore Geordan Martinez stopped the bleeding for the Broncos (3-3, 1-0 Pac-12) at 149, as the nation’s 17th-ranked wrestler picked up an 11-6 decision over Cole Mendenhall.

The Cowboys responded with two more decisions before redshirt junior Austin Dewey notched the Broncos’ second and final victory of the afternoon at 174, earning a 4-1 decision over Jace Jensen.

Dewey and Martinez were each 2-0 on the weekend with a pair of decisions.

“We got beat by a better team today,” head coach Greg Randall said.

Wyoming closed with three-straight wins, including a pair of major decisions at 184 and 285, and the Broncos forfeited the final match at 125.

Boise State continues its homestand against Northern Colorado, Jan. 29 (Friday). The teams are slated to hit the mat at 7 p.m. in Taco Bell Arena.
