Jan. 9, 2014

PALO ALTO, Calif. - The 20th-ranked Boise State wrestling team fell 19-12 at Stanford Thursday, in the first of three Pac-12 road duals in four days for the Broncos.

For Boise State, now 1-2 overall and 1-1 in the Pac-12, the loss is the first on the road to a conference opponent since falling 22-20 to Cal Poly, Jan. 8, 2012 - nearly two years to the day.

Stanford improved to 9-3 overall and 2-0 in the Pac-12.

The Broncos received decisions from Jake Swartz (184), J.T. Felix (285), Travis Himmelman (141) and Chris Castillo (149), but Stanford won five matches by decision and a sixth by major decision to claim the victory.

Stanford opened with three-consecutive decisions before the seventh-ranked Swartz put the Broncos on the board with victory over Zach Nevills (6-0).

For Hernandez, the match was his first of the season.

Felix, the fifth-ranked heavyweight in the country, earned a 7-5 decision, but it was sandwiched between Cardinal victories at 197 pounds and 125 pounds. At 197, Cody Dixon fell to No. 20 Dan Scherer (6-2), and at 125, Rami Haddadin fell to No. 14 Evan Silver, 5-4.

With the Cardinal leading 15-6, Stanford's Ryan Mango, ranked No. 12 at 133 pounds, put the dual away with a 13-4 major decision over Ben DeMeulle.
