BOISE, Idaho For the second consecutive month, a member of the Boise State men’s tennis team has been named WAC Player of the Month. Senior Clancy Shields was named WAC Player of the Month for October, following fellow senior Kean Feeder who earned the honors for September.

Shields dominated opponents in October, going 6-1 on the month and brought home a singles title. Shields began the month with a two-set, upset victory in the first round of the ITA All-American Championships by defeating No. 28-ranked Moritz Baumann (Wisconsin). He would follow that up with a 5-0 record in the Mountain Region Championships, reaching the finals for the second straight year and winning the title. The Championship earned him an automatic bid into the National Indoor Championships last weekend where he went 2-2.

In doubles, Shields went 3-2 with Feeder as his partner. The duo went 1-1 at the All-American Championships Qualifying tournament and 2-1 at the Mountain Region Championships. The pair reached the semifinals of the Mountain Regions before losing to the fourth-seeded team from New Mexico.

The fall season has now concluded, but the men’s team will be back in action when they host Oregon on Jan. 18.
