LAS VEGAS, Nev. - Boise State men's tennis player Vicente Joli completed his impressive run at the ITA/Wilson Mountain Region Championships, Sunday (Oct. 25), winning the singles title with a straight set victory over Phillip Eilers of Utah.
Joli, who entered the tournament as the No. 12 seed, had to face four opponents seeded 16 or higher throughout the week, including two who were seeded in the top five. Joli managed to roll through the first five rounds, however, earning him a final round match against Eilers, the No. 3 seed. Joli continued his strong play in the finals, beating Eilers, 6-2, 7-5, to capture the title.
The win earns Joli an automatic berth at the National Individual Indoor Championships, which will be held in New Haven, Ct., Nov. 5-8. This marks the eighth consecutive year that Boise State will have a representative at the National Indoors.
