BOISE, Idaho-Boise State men's tennis will feature six seeded players in the singles draw of the 2011 USTA/ITA Mountain Region Championships, Wednesday through Sunday at the Darling Tennis Center in Las Vegas. Senior Damian Hume enters the tournament as the No. 2 seed and junior James Meredith is the fifth-seeded player in the singles draw.
Together, Hume and Meredith form the No. 2 seeded doubles team, earning a bye through the first round of competition.
Andy Bettles is coming off a semifinals run at the Battle in the Bay Classic and is ranked No. 124 in the country. Bettles carries the No. 12 seed into the regional championships. Other seeded Broncos are freshman Garret Patton, junior Scott Sears and sophomore Nathan Sereke. Redshirt freshman Aidan Reid and senior Erik Sheldon are also set to compete in the singles competition.
Bettles will team with Sears as the No. 8 doubles pairing. Patton and Sereke are the 16th-seeded doubles tandem. Reid and Sheldon will also play together in doubles action.
The winner of each draw will qualify for the ITA National Indoor Championships. The Broncos have won three of the past four singles titles at the regional championships.
