SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. - Boise State’s men’s tennis continued its run at the Battle  in the Bay Classic on Saturday with Thomas Tenreiro advancing to the singles consolation match, while the doubles team of Garrett Patton and Brendan McClain fell in the main draw’s semifinals.
Thomas Tenreiro regrouped after an opening day loss on Friday by sweeping a pair of singles matches in straight sets on Saturday to advance to the consolation semifinals at the BBC. Tenreiro recorded two sweeps in singles defeating UC Davis’ Adam Levie 7-6, 6-3, then followed that with a easy 6-1, 6-2 victory over Alex Hamilton from Pacific in the quarterfinal round. The junior from Miami, Fla., will face Greg Bayane from California Sunday morning for chance to advance to the consolation championship match.
In doubles, the Bronco tandem of Patton and McClain reached the semifinals before suffering a loss. The Boise State duo defeated Stanford’s pair of Yale Goldberg and Tom Fawcett by an 8-4 score during the quarterfinal round in the morning. Unfortunately, the Broncos came up short in the semifinals falling 8-5 to Southern Cal’s Nick Crystal and Connor Farren. Patton and McClain will face UCLA’s tandem of Joseph Di Giulio and Austin Rapp in a consolation match Sunday morning.
Sophomore Brendan McClain did compete in the singles consolation draw’s round of 16 but fell in straight sets 6-1, 6-0 to Dan McCall from Duke. The loss ended his run at the BBC in singles.
