BOISE, Idaho - Boise State freshman men's tennis player Jeff Mullen earn his best tournament finish as a Bronco to date on Sunday (Oct. 11), winning the consolation championship of the Boise State Fall Classic at the BOAS Indoor Tennis Center.

After dropping his first match of the weekend on Friday, 6-4, 6-2, to Ricardo Campos of BYU, Mullen won four consecutive matches en route to the consolation title. He opened Sunday's competition with a 6-3, 6-4 win over Esteban Ferrero (Montana State) in the consolation semifinals, which earned him a spot in the final match. In the consolation finals, Mullen took care of Portland's Mike Pigou in straight sets (6-4, 6-4) to secure the win.

Mullen was the only Bronco competing on Sunday. Nick Gourley and Filipp Pogostkin were scheduled to play matches in the "feed in" bracket, but those matches were not played due to time constraints.

Next on the schedule for the Bronco men is the Utah Intercollegiate tournament, Oct. 15-17, in Salt Lake City, Utah.
