Three Broncos played for titles.
BOISE, Idaho - Boise State sophomore Andy Bettles won his draw at the Boise State Fall Classic Sunday afternoon in Boise with a straight set victory over teammate Garrett Patton 7-5, 6-2. Overall it was a solid outing for the Boise State men's tennis team who advanced three players to the championship round of the tournament, two to the A draw title match and one to the B draw final.
Settles entered the tournament as the No. 1 seed and ranked No. 124 nationally. The sophomore won his first three matches Friday and Saturday to advance to the draw's championship on Sunday where he defeated Boise State freshman Garrett Patton to finished the three day tournament undefeated at 4-0. Meanwhile Patton, who was seeded sixth, reached the final by sweeping his first four matches before losing in the final to finish at 4-1 overall.
Other Broncos competing in singles this weekend at the classic where Erik Sheldon who lost 6-4, 6-3, to Idaho State's Jorge Suarez in the championship match of the B draw on Sunday. He was the only Boise State player competing in that draw going 3-1 on the weekend.
Boise State had only one doubles team competing over the weekend in Andy Bettles and Garrett Patton who lost their opening match on Saturday and did not advance.
Next up for Boise State is the University of Utah Intercollegiate next weekend in Salt Lake City.
