Boise State's Moyer Wins Consolation Title at Dar Walters Tennis Classic

BOISE, Idaho - Freshman Danny Moyer claimed the consolation title for the D flight on Sunday afternoon to lead four Broncos at the Dar Walters Tennis Classic at Boise. After dropping his first match as a Bronco on Friday, he won three consecutive contests to close the weekend. Sunday morning he rallied from one set down to win a three-set battle over Whitman College’s Phillip Locklear 6-7 (8), 6-3, 7-6 (3) in the consolation championship.
Abe Hewko took on Utah State’s Sebastain Schneider Sunday in a consolation match at the Appleton Tennis Center falling in straight sets 6-3, 6-1. The sophomore finishes the weekend 2-2 in singles. 
Brian Foley also competed in the consolation rounds Sunday but withdrew in the second set do to illness. It goes down as a (6-2, 2-0, retired) loss to Thomasz Soltyka from Montana. Foley finished his season opening weekend with a 2-2 mark in singles. 
In doubles the lone Bronco team competing on Sunday was that of Foley and Lewis Roskilly. The Boise State tandem fell 8-4 in the Orange flight semifinals to Montana’s Peter Mimnagh-Fleming and Thomasz Soltyka.  
Boise State’s next action will be this coming week when the Broncos take four members of the team to the prestigious Battle of the Bay in San Francisco.
