Tournament: Boise State Dar Walters Fall Classic
Location: Boise, Idaho
Venue: Boise State's Appleton Tennis Center and Boas Indoor Tennis Center, as well as Julia Davis Park
Dates: Oct. 5-8

WHAT IS HAPPENING


  • Boise State's men's tennis is home for the Boise State Dar Walters Fall Classic this weekend running Thursday through Sunday primarily at the Appleton Tennis Center and Julia Davis Park, with some matches at the Boas Indoor Tennis Center. 

  • This weekend's tournament is a ITA-sanctioned event. 

  • Every player is guaranteed two singles and two doubles matches, weather permitting.

  • Boise State's men's tennis team would like to thank Dar Walters for sponsoring this event. Walters is a longtime tennis enthusiast and participant who has won more titles and national championships than any other player in Idaho tennis history (439 titles in 15 states). His honors are numerous and include being a member of the Idaho Sports Hall of Fame and the University of Idaho Sports Hall of Fame. 

REPRESENTING BOISE STATE


  • Boise State will have four members of its squad participating in this competition Pedro Platzeck, Ryland McDermott, Matteo Tinelli and Stefan Lalovic. Platzeck is a junior from Sao Paulo, Brazil, who is competing in his second tournament of the fall. McDermott is a sophomore from Las Vegas ,Nev., competing in his first event of the fall. Matteo Tinelli from Milan, Italy, and Stefan Lalovic from Las Vegas, Nev., are both freshmen and competing in their second tournament of the fall. 

  • All four will compete in singles while the doubles pairs will consist of Platzeck with Lalovic and Tinelli with McDermott. 

THE FIELD


  • The field features 12 teams including: Boise State (Mountain West), Abilene Christian (Southland), Eastern Washington (Big Sky), Gonzaga (West Coast), Idaho (Big Sky), Idaho State (Big Sky), Montana (Big Sky), Portland (West Coast), Portland State (Big Sky), Oregon (Pac-12), Seattle (WAC) and Whitman (Northwest). 

TOURNAMENT FORMAT


  • Singles Format: The singles competition will be broken down into two brackets/draws, a "Blue Flight" and a "Orange Flight" with 32 competitors each.

  • Doubles Format: The tournament will consists of a 32 doubles teams in one bracket. 

LAST TIME OUT


  • Boise State sent four Broncos to compete at Idaho State's Bank of Commerce Invitational last weekend in Pocatello where they were led by the doubles team of Pedro Platzeck and Stefan Lalovic who went 4-1. 

  • Freshman Tim Heslin reached the consolation semifinals to lead the team in singles play.
