Broncos Bounced From All-American Qualifying Tournament

Tulsa. Okla.- Boise State University men’s tennis players Blake Boswell and Clancy Shields could not maintain their winning ways at the All-American qualifying tournament, as both were defeated Tuesday, ending their chances to advance to the All-American tournament. 

 

Boswell lost his first match as a member of the when was defeated by Louisville’s Damar Johnson, 6-1 and 6-2.  Boswell had begun his career 4-0, with three victories coming in the All-American pre-qualifying tournament and the other in opening round of the All-American qualifying tournament. 

 

Shields faced Cosmin Cotet of TCU in the second round but failed to overcome him as he was defeated 6-4 and 6-3.  Shield will however go on to compete in the doubles portion of the All-American tournament, there he will team with his brother Luke Shields.  The pair will face the doubles team from Vanderbilt, Thursday, Oct. 5.

 

Luke Shields will also be competing in the singles portion of the All-American tournament.  He will face 22nd ranked, according to the Intercollegiate Tennis Association, Martin Sayer of Radford University in the opening round Oct. 3.  L. Shields did not need to participate in the qualifying portion of the tournament because he came into the season ranked 33rd.
