Two Men's Tennis Players Advance in All-American Qualifying

Tulsa, Okla- Blake Boswell and Clancy Shields of the Boise State men’s tennis team, each captured victories in the first round of the All-American qualifying tournament Monday. 

 

Boswell continued his undefeated run as a member of the Broncos by triumphing over Baylor’s 82nd ranked Matt Brown in straight sets, 7-5 and 6-1.  Boswell pushed his record to 4-0 and will strive to continue his success Tuesday, Oct. 3 when he takes on Damar Johnson from the University of Louisville in round two starting at noon.

 

Shields needed three sets to decide his fate in the tournament but he emerged victorious over Damon Gooch of Elon University, 6-7(9-7), 6-4 and 6-3.  Shields will now face Cosmin Cotet of TCU beginning at 11 a.m. on Oct. 3.
