What’s Happening - Three members of the Boise State University men’s tennis team will compete in their first tournament of the Fall season, the Baylor Tournament, this weekend in Waco, Texas.
The Players - The Broncos will send three members of their team to compete in the tournament including Luke Shields who entered the season ranked 33, according to the Intercollegiate Tennis Association. Shields enters the seasons as the second ranked individual in the Western Athletic Conference. Last season Shields led the Broncos with 25 individual victories and tied for team led in doubles victories with 25.
Luke Shields will be joined by his brother Clancy Shields and Steve Robertson.
All three members of Boise State will compete in the individual competition but Robertson and C. Shields will be competing as a doubles team as well.
Last season Shields and Robertson won 84 percent of their doubles matches to post a record of 21-4 for the season. Both earned first-team All-WAC honors for their play as a doubles team.
Clancy Shields was also named first-team All-WAC for his individual play.
Last season the Broncos return eight members from their 2005-06 team that captured the WAC Championship in Boise, Idaho.
