Boise State Men's Tennis Opens Fall Season in Texas

BOISE, Idaho - The Boise State men’s tennis team opens its 2013 fall schedule this weekend as four members of the 10 man squad travel to Midland, Texas, for the Midland Intercollegiate Tennis Tournament. Representing the Broncos in the season opener are Andy Bettles, Garrett Patton, Brian Foley and Brendan McClain.

This event is a regular fixture on the Bronco schedule and annually features some of the nation’s top collegiate teams, including Pepperdine, Nebraska, Rice, Texas, TCU, Penn State, Texas Tech and Baylor.

Leading Boise State will be Andy Bettles the 21st-ranked singles player nationally. The senior from Somerset, England, is coming off an outstanding 30-10 campaign in 2012-13 in which he was named Mountain West Conference Player of the Year. Brendan McClain a true freshman out of Ventura, Calif., will get his first action as a Bronco playing singles, as well as teaming-up with Bettles to play doubles.

Garrett Patton and Brian Foley will also compete in the competition in singles and then pair-up for doubles. Patton, a junior from Boise, went 15-10 in singles last year and 18-9 in doubles. Meanwhile, Foley recorded an 8-4 singles mark and went 3-3 in doubles last season. The Henderson, Nev. native, and Patton will see their first action as a doubles team in this tournament.
