Men's Tennis to Face Virginia Tech in Maryland this weekend

BOISE, Idaho - The Boise State tennis team will officially kick-off its 2010-11 season this weekend as the Broncos will travel cross-country to square off against the Virginia Tech Hokies in the D.C. Invitational. The match has been scheduled to coincide with the highly anticipated football game between No. 3 Boise State and No. 10 Virginia Tech on Monday (Sept. 6) night in Landover, M.D.

Bronco men's tennis coach Greg Patton will take four players to face the Hokies in an ITA sanctioned event. The tournament, which is scheduled for Sunday and Monday (Sept. 5-6), will be played with two flights of singles and one flight of doubles. Match times have been scheduled to encourage Bronco fans traveling for the football game to head out and support the Boise State men's tennis team as well.

Sunday's events will start at 2 p.m. (EST) and will be held at the Columbia Country Club in Chevy Chase, M.D. Bronco fans are invited to join both teams for a mixer, which will be followed by singles competition at 3:15 p.m. Fans will also have the opportunity to play tennis at the Columbia CC Sunday morning by contacting the Club tennis office. The Columbia CC is an all white attire club for tennis wear.

On Monday the Broncos will meet the Hokies at Woodmont Country Club in Rockville, M.D. to square off once again on the tennis court. Monday's action is scheduled to start at 9 a.m. with the final singles matches slated to begin at 11 a.m. Bronco fans will once again have the opportunity to partake in a mixer with the two teams at Woodmont CC.
