BOISE, Idaho-Boise State men's tennis will open its 2011-12 campaign Friday when it travels to the Atlanta Athletic Club Collegiate Invitational for two days of competition against Georgia.
Each school will be represented by four student-athletes. The Broncos are sending redshirt juniors James Meredith and Scott Sears, and sophomores Aidan Reid and Nathan Sereke.They will take on Georgia's Wil Spencer, Sadio Doumbia, Nathan Pasha and Eric Diaz.
"Going to Georgia is thrilling," said head coach Greg Patton. "To be successful you hang out with successful people. Being able to travel with our football team and experience that aura of greatness I think will feed us. Georgia is a great team and it's going to be a great experience."
The two squads will compete in two doubles matches and four singles matches each day. Friday's competition begins at 4 p.m. (ET) while Saturday will get underway at 10 a.m. (ET).
Both teams will participate in a skills clinic for club members and guests at the conclusion of Friday's play. Non-members can attend the matches on both days and the clinic for $10.
The Bulldogs finished the 2011 season ranked No. 5 by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association. Boise State was ranked No. 52.
"The important thing is getting that re-introduction to competition," Patton said. "With it being against a team like Georgia, that's a bonus. All of the wins we come away with are going to help us with our national ranking come the spring."
