BOISE, Idaho - Boise State junior Damian Hume will be honored with the nation's top collegiate tennis players in New York, N.Y. this weekend (Aug. 28-29), as a member of the 2009-10 ITA All-Star team. Hume, who joined the men's tennis program this fall as a transfer, will be honored for his success last season at Collin College in Texas.
The 27th edition of the ITA All-Star team will be recognized and honored, along with the ITA/Arthur Ashe Leadership and Sportsmanship Award winners, at the ITA awards luncheon this Saturday (Aug. 28). The event coincides with the start of the U.S. Open Tennis Championships. The All-Star team is comprised of the nation's top ranked players and national champions from NCAA Division I, Division II, Division III, NAIA and NJCAA from last season.
Hume, a native of Johannesburg, South Africa, committed to Boise State this past spring after a standout junior college career at Collin College. In May, Hume captured the NJCAA singles national championship. He also helped guide Collin College to its first ever NJCAA Division I team national title.
