ATHENS, Ga. - Boise State men's tennis player James Meredith saw his sophomore season come to an end, Wednesday (May 26), as he lost his opening round match at the NCAA Individual Championships in Athens, Ga. to fall from the 64-player tournament.

Meredith, who entered the individual championships ranked No. 55 nationally, played well early against No. 32 Bassam Beidas of Pepperdine but was unable to close the door on the match. After jumping out to a 5-4 lead in the first set, Meredith failed to capitalize. Beidas managed to even the score at 6-6 and went on to take the tie breaker for a 7-6 first set win.

Meredith continued to fight in the second set but simply couldn't overcome the shift in momentum. Beidas would cruise ahead in the second set and put Meredith away, 7-6, 6-3. With the loss, Meredith ends the season with a 25-10 overall record.
