Luke Shields Advances in NCAA Men's Tennis Championships

ATHENS, Ga. No. 15 Luke Shields of the Boise State University men’s tennis team defeated No. 62 Nick Rinks of Michigan State in straight sets, 6-2 and 6-1, to advance to the Round of 32 in the singles competition, Thursday, in the NCAA Men’s Division I Tennis Championships at Athens, Ga.

With the win, Luke Shields collected his 35th victory of the season and will face No. 33 Robbye Poole of Ole Miss in the second round, Thursday, May 24, at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex at Athens, Ga. Luke Shields will also pair with Piotr Dilaj to face LSU’s James Cluskey and Ken Skupski in the doubles competition Thursday, May 24. 

No. 61 Clancy Shields also participated in the first round of the NCAA Men’s Tennis Championships. He faced Greg Ouellette of Florida in the Round of 64 and fell in straight sets 6-2 and 6-4. Clancy Shields ended his season 24-13 in singles play.
