Boise State’s Andy Bettles will face Virginia’s Ryan Shane in Wednesday’s opening round of the NCAA Men’s Tennis Singles Championship in Athens, Ga. Bettles discovered who he would face this morning when the NCAA released the singles draw. The senior from Somerset, England, will take on Shane Wednesday at 10 a.m. (Mountain) at the University of Georgia’s Dan Magill Tennis Complex.

Bettles enters the tournament ranked 87th nationally by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) with a 23-15 singles mark in 2013-14 and a career record of 106-41. He went 12-12 playing at number one singles during this spring’s dual season. Bettles and his Bronco teammates advanced to the first round of the NCAA tournament where they lost 4-2 to San Diego in Los Angeles.
Ryan Shane enters the championship ranked 46th powered by a 25-6 singles mark this year. The sophomore from Falls Church, Va., went 18-2 in duals this spring playing primarily on court three where he was 14-1. Shane and his Cavalier teammates are coming off a semifinal run at the NCAA Men’s Tennis Team Championship where they lost 5-1 Monday afternoon to No. 1 Southern Cal in Athens, Ga.
