Luke and Clancy Shields Set to Compete at NCAA Individual Tennis Championships

BOISE, Idaho Boise State’s men’s tennis duo, Clancy and Luke Shields, will begin competition in the 2008 NCAA Individual Tennis Championships on Wednesday, May 21. The NCAA Individual Championships will be held May 21-26 on the campus of the University of Tulsa in Tulsa, Okla.

Clancy Shields earned his way into the singles competition while his brother Luke will join him for the doubles competition.

A junior, Clancy Shields holds the No. 83 spot in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association singles rankings and is one of 64 individuals to play in the singles bracket. He will be the first to hit the court facing Oklahoma’s Andrei Daescu who holds the No. 30 spot in the singles rankings. The pair will face off at 11:30 a.m. (CT).

Clancy joins his brother Luke as the No. 29-ranked doubles team in the nation. They will take to the court on Thursday, facing No. 17-ranked Jamie Hunt and Nate Schnugg of Georgia. The Shields are one of 32 doubles teams to be selected to play in the doubles draw.
