April 25, 2018

SAN DIEGO, Calif. – Boise State juniors Jack Heslin and Kyle Butters have been named All-Mountain West in men’s tennis as announced this evening at the MW Championship banquet in San Diego. Heslin received All-MW honors for both singles and doubles, while Butters earned it for his doubles play as Heslin’s partner.

Heslin received singles recognition for playing at the No. 1 position where he went 9-10 overall and 3-3 in conference play. This is the second straight season in which the junior from Auckland, New Zealand, has been named All-MW for doubles while playing at the top position with Butters.

This makes three-straight years in which Kyle Butters has received postseason recognition by the Mountain West. This year he earned his third-consecutive all-league honor in doubles with the last two coming with Heslin as his partner. He also earned All-MW recognition for singles in 2017 and was named the MW Freshman of the Year in 2016.

This year Butters and Heslin went 9-11 at No. 1 doubles and 4-3 in conference play. The New Zealand tandem are a combined 22-23 overall as a doubles team and 15-18 at the No. 1 position over the last two seasons.

The junior tandem will lead the Broncos into Thursday’s Mountain West quarterfinals against Utah State at 10 a.m. (Mountain) in San Diego.
