Tenreiro Named MW Player of the Week

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Boise State senior Thomas Tenreiro has been named the Mountain West Conference Men’s Tennis Player of the Week as released by the league office Wednesday afternoon. Tenreiro led Boise State to a home sweep last weekend over conference rivals San Diego State and UNLV, both by 4-1 scores. This is the first player of the week honor this year for Tenreiro and the third of his career.

Tenreiro’s Highlights from April 15-17

  • Thomas Tenreiro went a perfect 4-0 last weekend to lead Boise State to a home sweep over Mountain West opponents San Diego State and UNLV, both by 4-1 scores.
  • Tenreiro went 2-0 at No. 2 singles and 2-0 with Lewis Roskilly at No. 2 doubles.
  • In the victory over SDSU, Tenreiro rallied from 5-1 down in the first set to win it in a tiebreaker 7-6(7), then slammed the door shut with a 6-2 win in set two to clinch the team victory. 
  • Against UNLV Tenreiro never trailed in his singles match as he downed the Rebels’ Alexandr Cozbinov in straight sets 6-3, 6-1 … his win put the Broncos to within one of victory up 3-1. 
  • Tenreiro and his doubles partner Lewis Roskilly teamed up to win both contests over the weekend by 6-4 scores to help win the doubles point in each case for Boise State … their win clinched the team point for the Broncos in the UNLV contests.
  • Tenreiro is now 16-3 overall in singles, 9-2 in spring duals and 5-2 in MW matches.
