FRESNO, Calif. - The No. 52 ranked Boise State men's tennis team rebounded from a 0-2 start to its weekend road trip to California, Sunday (April 17) afternoon, as the Broncos beat Hawai'i, 5-2, in Fresno, Calif. to improve to 2-2 in Western Athletic Conference action.

Boise State (14-12 overall) continued its strong play in doubles competition against the Warriors (6-12, 2-4), winning all three matches to seize full momentum heading into singles play. The Broncos continued to roll in singles play with four wins to secure the dual victory.

The Broncos scored their first win of the day at No. 3 doubles as Andy Bettles and Filipp Pogostkin knocked off Jeremy Tweedt and Dmytro Kovalyov, 8-2, to secure their 13 doubles win in a row. Jeff Mullen and Nathan Sereke would clinch the doubles point for Boise State next at No. 2 with an 8-4 victory against Daniel Llarenas and Danilo Casanova.

Hawai'i would respond immediately in singles competition however, as Lajola upset No. 120 Hume, 6-3, 6-1, at No. 1 to even the team score at 1-1. Mullen made sure that would be the last time the Warriors held a tie with Boise State, though, knocking off Llarenas, 7-6 (3), 2-6, 6-0, to give the Broncos a 2-1 lead in the dual.

Bettles would put Boise State one win away from clinching the team win next at No. 2 as he knocked off Tweedt, 6-2, 6-3, to extend the dual score to 3-1. The Broncos wasted no time putting the dual out of reach from Hawai'i as Sears beat Casanova, 7-6 (3), 6-1, at No. 4 to give Boise State the decisive 4-1 lead.

The Broncos would split the remaining two singles matches to push the final team score to 5-2, as Sereke won at No. 6 before Pogostkin dropped a hard fought match at No. 3. Sereke knocked off Jared Spiker, 6-2, 6-2, while Pogostkin fell to Brooklyn, 3-6, 6-1, 10-6.
