Boise State Sweeps Montana State: Prepares For Loyola Marymount

BOISE, Idaho - On a bright, sunny Saturday afternoon at the Appleton Tennis Center at Boise, Idaho, the Boise State University men’s tennis team swept Montana State 7-0, to improve to 22-5 heading into its match against Loyola Marymount, which is scheduled for 5:00 p.m., Saturday, Apr. 7.

The victory extends the Broncos’ winning-streak to six matches as the team collected its 14th win in the last 15 contests.

Boise State opened the match by earning the doubles point, something the team has failed to do in its five losses.

Stanley Sarapanich and Brent Werbeck collected their first doubles victory on the season as they defeated Justin Hauck and Igor Vuckovic at No. 3 doubles 8-4.

Blake Boswell and Eric Roberson ousted David Kovas and Myles Perkins 8-2, as the Bronco duo secured its team-leading 13th doubles victory in dual match play and 18th overall, to clinch the crucial doubles point for Boise State.

Clancy Shields and Steve Robertson capped off doubles as they knocked off Jakob Dybala and Kyle McDonald at the No. 1 position 8-5, as the pair earned its sixth victory in its last seven matches.

Taking a 1-0 lead into singles, Boise State captured all six available points with five coming in straight sets.

Werbeck got things started for the Broncos as he broke his opponent, Vuckovic’s serve six times through the two matches and won in flawless fashion at No. 4 singles 6-0 and 6-0.

Sarapanich made quick work of Kovas at the No. 5 position as he broke him twice in the first set and three times in the second to win the match 6-1 and 6-2.

Dilaj collected the clinching match point at No. 1 singles for Boise State, as he ousted Dybala 6-4 and 6-1, to earn his 19th victory of the season and to improve to 4-0 while playing No. 1.

Roberson then knocked off Hauck at No. 3, 6-2 and 6-0, to tack on another point an put the Broncos ahead 5-0.

Boswell improved to 5-0 while playing No. 2 singles as he ousted McDonald 6-1, 1-6 and 6-4.

Hepburn reamined undefeated in dual math play as he earned the 6-2 and 6-4 victory over Perkins in the No. 6 position.

Boise State will face Loyola Marymount Saturday, Apr. 7, at 5:00 p.m., at the Appleton Tennis Center. Admission is free and parking is available and free by the Student Union Building (SUB).
