BOISE, Idaho The Boise State University men’s tennis team advanced to the second round of the Boise State Red Lion Spring Break Invitational by defeating Gonzaga 5-1, Wednesday, at the Boas Tennis and Soccer Complex at Boise, Idaho.

 

Boise State captured five of six singles points to garner the win over Gonzaga (6-11).

 

Brent Werbeck collected the first point for the Broncos at the No. 5 position as he defeated Cooper Fratt 6-3 and 6-0.

 

Blake Boswell, playing No. 2, earned the straight set victory over Roman Dojcak 6-3 and 6-2, as the Broncos went ahead 2-0.

 

Jamaal Hepburn then defeated Chuck Adams at the No. 6 position, 6-3 and 6-0, to improve to his record to 2-0 in dual match play.

 

Junior Eric Roberson delivered the clinching match point for the Broncos as he knocked off Brett Womack at No. 3, 6-3, 4-6 and 6-2.

 

Piotr Dilaj maintained perfect record at the No. 1 position, as he defeated Bryce Cooper 6-2, 6-7 and 6-4, to improve to 3-0.

 

The only loss for Boise State came at the No. 4 position where Stanley Sarapanich fell to Marco Antonio Pineda, 3-6, 6-3 and 6-4.

 

With the victory the Broncos improved to 18-5 on the season and advanced to play Sacramento State (13-3), Wednesday, Mar. 28, at approximately 3:30 p.m., at the Boas Tennis and Soccer Complex.
