Heslin Named MW Player of the Week

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Boise State junior Jack Heslin has been named the Mountain West Men’s Tennis Player of the Week after leading the Broncos to three home victories last weekend over Santa Clara, Montana State and Weber State.

Heslin went a combined 5-1 overall last week winning all three singles matches at the No. 1 position and went 2-1 in doubles. This is his first MW Player of the Week honor since transferring to Boise State following his freshman season at Tennessee.

Highlights From Last Week...

  • Heslin led Boise State to a home sweep of three matches last weekend as the Broncos defeated Santa Clara (4-3), Montana State (4-3) and Weber State (4-0) going a combined 5-1 in singles and doubles contests.

  • Heslin went 3-0 at No. 1 singles recording two straight-set victories, in addition, he went 2-1 in doubles going 1-1 at No. 1 doubles and 1-0 at No. 3 doubles. 

  • In the win over Santa Clara, Heslin teamed up with Kyle Butters at No. 1 doubles to win 6-0 to help the Broncos take the doubles point. He then recorded the clinching singles win at the No. 1 position winning in three sets 7-6(8), 3-6, 6-2 to break a 3-3 tie handing the team victory to Boise State.

  • Against Montana State, Heslin teamed up with his brother Tim to win at No. 3 doubles 6-2 as Boise State took the doubles team point. He then cruised to a 6-2, 6-4 win at No. 1 singles to tally the Broncos first singles victory in a 4-3 team victory over the Bobcats.

  • Heslin then helped the Broncos to a 4-0 win over Weber State winning No. 1 singles in straight sets 7-6(5), 6-4 securing the match clinching victory against the Wildcats.
